Leader of the Pack

I took Miss Matilda on her evening stroll today and we encountered two dogs. Big dogs. The untrained terrier in her needed to announce her presence with all the authority that her little bark could muster. And she barked, and barked, and barked, and barked some more while she ran around me in a semi-circle. Whatever she was trying to communicate was very urgent to her but was being completely ignored by the well trained Retriever and Bulldog. I think that drove her nuts. The barking became incessant and her message must have changed because now all of the dogs in the neighborhood were barking in response. She'd bark. They'd answer. She'd bark louder and longer. They'd answer louder and longer. I felt like I was in a Disney movie. I imagined dogs running toward me from every direction and knocking me down to the ground - all of them determined to come to the aid of Matilda, the 12 pound leader of their pack.

I was so embarrassed. I need to enroll her in a class.
